Our client is a London headquartered company that is a provider of institutional-grade exchange services intended to facilitate the trading of cryptocurrencies and digital assets. An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Operations to help develop the End-to-End core CSD services for a new digital Central Securities Depository.

This is an exciting opportunity to be an active member of a Senior Management Team responsible for the creation and running of an efficient and effective digital CSD business operation to support significant market change.

The role will evolve to assume full responsibility for running the day-to-day operations for a global regulated digital CSD, based in London and Gibraltar, focused on institutional clients settling conventional securities and digital assets in CoBM and CeBM.

The ideal applicant will bring previous experience of running core CSD processes from start to finish in a regulated environment. Comfortable operating in the dynamic environment of a fast-moving regulated financial markets group that is building digital asset ecosystems that support conventional securities and leverages the benefits of distributed ledger technology.

This is a start-up company incorporated in Gibraltar to establish digital asset post-trade services within the sister company, which is headquartered in London.

You will be interacting directly with regulators in London and Gibraltar together with government officials, market participants and teams of lawyers. The role requires a hands-on, sleeves rolled-up approach to creating/finalising policies and procedures to support the CSD authorisation application as well as embedding them into the firm and being able to build and lead an operations team post-live launch.

Key Requirements:

• Primary objective is to assist and support preparations for regulatory authorisation
• Contribute CSD industry and market participant insights and knowledge
• Oversee and contribute to the creation/refinement of policies and procedures
• Secondary objective to provide key contributions to the Market Advisory Group
• Help to originate and develop a core CSD Minimum Viable Product
• Manage and track all CSD projects pre-Go Live
• Responsible for creation of an Operations Division pre-Go Live
• Responsible for CSD Day-to-Day operations post-Go Live
• Accountability for settlement efficiency throughout the Operational Day
• Operate Day-to-Day core CSD service
• Ensure processes exist across every department, in line with regulations
• Ensure relevant projects and initiatives are monitored and delivered
• Day-to-Day CSD operations and market interaction
• Create, provide and enhance relevant management reporting and associated MIS
• Manage client support operations, including client onboarding and discipline

Salary is negotiable depended on experience c £90,000 + discretionary bonus. There is some potential for remote working but you must be able to commute to the London office on a regular basis. Requirements

The Head of Operations will balance a good understanding of the details as required, but also has to be able to provide a comprehensive overview for the rest of the business and Senior Management Teams as to the workings between the groups so that better decisions can be made at the Senior Management level.


As an aspiring systemically important CSD utility based on FinTech attributes such as blockchain technology, the Head of Operations will be expected to grasp the details, challenges, and objectives of the different parts of the business as each evolves. A keen interest in crypto-digital currencies would be welcome.


The Head of Operations will balance a good understanding of the details as required, but also has to be able to provide a comprehensive overview for the rest of the business and Senior Management Teams as to the workings between the groups so that better decisions can be made at the Senior Management level.


You will likely have experience of working in a start-up, capital markets experience, a strong operations and compliance/regulatory background, and be a team player with excellent people skills.


A deep interest in blockchain, tokenisation and related FinTech developments would be beneficial. The ideal candidate will be driven by success and will never be satisfied achieving just the bare minimum. You will have an entrepreneurial mindset and a real passion for detail and customer care. You will be someone who relishes a challenge and flourishes on seeing teams improve, achieve and exceed targets.


Personal Attributes:
• Understand the complete life cycle of conventional securities and digital assets
• Ability to operate and scale up a start-up business and associated processes
• Ability to review legal and regulatory documentation
• Good written English and ability to draft/review policies, processes and procedures
• Strong capital markets background, including CSDs, custodians and central banks
• Experienced in remaining calm during severe but plausible market events
• Familiar with the regulatory requirements for CSDR and Operational Resilience
• Awareness of issuance, corporate actions and settlement in CoBM and CeBM
• Ability to balance and achieve a combination of short and long-term goals
• Ability to hire, set goals, manage, motivate, inspire and promote staff
• Knowledge of blockchain technologies and/or related FinTech advancements

Benefits

£90,000 - £150,000 per annum, negotiable
